CWMA’s Annual Conference is British Columbia’s premier waste management industry networking event with delegates from across North America.

Our Conference has always been a favourite place to network and connect Western Canada’s solid waste management industry.
A forum for awareness-building and action-oriented discussions, this annual event brings together the waste management community to exchange knowledge, inspire solutions, and make connections!
In 2026, we’re doing More with Less — exploring how the sector can stretch tighter budgets, leaner teams, and shrinking landfill space into smarter systems, stronger partnerships, and better outcomes. Building on the Legacy of Solutions from our 30th anniversary, we’re channelling that same resourcefulness into the challenges ahead.
Every year, we take great pride in curating a relevant and action-oriented program. Unique to our hybrid event are a number of pre-conference virtual-only sessions to make the most of our community connections and maximize the learning.
The hotel is ideally located on Victoria’s breathtaking Inner Harbour and showcases full resort amenities. This is the most convenient option for our conference. Booking here helps support the Association as we contract these rooms to ensure attendees get great rates for the event.
Other Options
Our room block at the Delta Ocean Pointe fills fast. If you’d rather stay downtown, here are some alternatives — listed by walking time back to the conference floor.
Every hotel below sits on the downtown side of the harbour, so the walk means crossing the Johnson Street Bridge. It’s a wide, separated, well-lit walkway. Times assume an unhurried pace.
Roughly five minutes from anywhere on this list. Worth budgeting for if it’s raining. Ranks sit outside the Empress and along Wharf Street; Victoria’s taxi apps are reliable at conference hours.
The Victoria Harbour Ferry serves the Inner Harbour, including a stop at Ocean Pointe. It runs daily through October 9, then shortens for the season — confirm stops and times before counting on it, and expect weather cancellations.

Harbourfront suites with full kitchens, plus standard king rooms.

Heritage building, mid-range rates, no surprises. A good recommendation for delegates covering their own room.

Upscale boutique.
463 Belleville Street
Harbourfront, next to the legislature. Convenient for anyone coming off the Coho or the Clipper.
728 Humboldt Street
For anyone holding Marriott status — same chain as the Delta, so points and elite nights carry across.
810 Humboldt Street · 250-940-1200
Greenest option. All-suite, and by some distance the most credentialled sustainable hotel on this list. Details below.
721 Government Street · 1-866-540-4429
The full length of the harbour causeway from the venue. Stunning.
680 Montreal Street · 250-386-8721 · 1-800-663-7667
Green Key · Biosphere. Waterfront, Japanese garden, every room with a harbour view. Green Key rated and Biosphere certified.
Given what this conference is about, one hotel on the list has a sustainability record worth naming rather than burying in a footnote.
Learn more about what we do to walk the walk…
Last year, we welcomed 337 delegates both in person and virtually.
Delegates come from across British Columbia and North America. In 2025, 35% were from Vancouver Island and our Coastal Communities, 38% from Metro Vancouver, 13% from the rest of BC, and 14% from outside BC.
We bring together representatives from municipalities, private corporations, stewardship organizations, and non-profits — from front-line technicians to executive leadership.
Delegates are involved in recycling, composting, policy development, waste reduction, producer responsibility, hauling, waste education, consulting, and managing solid waste facilities, landfills and more!
Each year, our fantastic hybrid event offers delegates three days of inspiring speakers, panel discussions, workshops, and valuable networking opportunities.
