This 90-minute event will help us all learn the fundamentals of the technology, economics, and environmental pros and cons of methods currently being used in British Columbia to generate or recover renewable energy from waste.
We will include an inventory of facilities and then break down the basics of each method with presentations from experts in their specific methods.
Time will be given for some discussion and questions.
This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of an area that is complex and at times, dare we say, confusing, which has inspired this event as the first in our “Waste to Watts” series to explore waste’s role in energy.
NOTE: We are also tiptoeing carefully into (non-solid waste) areas… Traditional waste management has often treated liquid waste, solid waste, and greenhouse gas emissions as separate environmental challenges. We have noted more integrated ideas have been growing and there is potentially interconnected opportunities. We want to be on top of these conversations to keep our community at the forefront of knowledge and innovation.
