Plastics Management – economic, market and regulatory trends affecting plastics

Coast Waste Management Association held a workshop, networking event and optional tour on February 16, 2018 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, in Nanaimo, BC. British Columbia is fortunate to have an EPR program to collect, process and market blue box plastics domestically. Policy changes in China, the largest market for recyclable plastics, are impacting other collected plastics. How we manage those plastics has created a challenge for industry. CWMA assembled an expert panel to discuss present market conditions, work that is being done to address the issue, alternative markets for plastics and what we might expect to see going forward.

For those of you who were able to attend, thank you for joining us last week to hear first-hand about some initiatives being implemented and the work being done to address this challenge here in BC.

We heard brief presentations that were followed by panel discussions with;
