Renowned for his expertise\, Dr. Abedini serves as a faculty member at SWANA BC and actively contributes as a technical member to the International Waste Working Group (IWWG). Dr. Abedini collaborates with Environment Canada and Climate Change and with the World Bank Group as a technical consultant for solid waste management projects in more than 20 developing countries. Dr. Abedini’s expertise extends to specialized areas within Landfill Gas engineering\, from methane emissions quantification to landfill gas management system design\, operation\, and troubleshooting. He is credited for developing the precision-focused UBC Integrated Landfill Gas Generation Model\, UBCiModel©\, and has pioneered the Surface Scan Fugitive Emission Quantification Technique (SSEQT) – a patented innovation in both Canada and the USA. \n\nRay Huff | SCS Engineers\, Greater Los Angeles Area | bio to follow \n\nMichael Whiticar | Dr. Michael Whiticar\, CEO and co-founder of Aerometrix\, brings 40 years’ experience as a gas geochemist. He has a mixed industry and academic background with Ph.D. (CAU\, 1978) in marine geochemistry\, gas geochemist at Petro-Canada (Calgary\, 1979-81) and Fed. Inst. Moderate risk waste is household hazardous waste and similar waste from institutional and commercial sources and include: waste motor oil\, portable fire extinguishers\, propane cylinders\, oil-based paint\, and lead-acid batteries. \nThe objectives of the amendments\, as outlined in the intentions paper and the What we Learned Report\, are to: \n\nBetter support the diversion of moderate risk waste from the municipal waste stream (for example\, by better facilitating the diversion of these wastes from landfills)\nDevelop requirements for storage and transport that are more achievable and practical while remaining protective of human health and the environment\nHarmonize requirements under the Hazardous Waste Regulation with the Recycling Regulation\n\nThe scope of the amendments focused on: \n\nStoring moderate risk waste at Return Collection Facilities (RCFs)\nTransporting these wastes from RCFs to hazardous waste management facilities (e.g.\, processing\, treatment\, or disposal facilities)\, and storing at in-transit consolidation facilities\n\nMore information: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content?id=F4ADCE577120461BA5B599DDDE1336FC

DESCRIPTION:CWMA Construction & Demolition Waste Working Group meets on specific topics related to building\, construction and demolition waste diversion\, from policy to new innovations. Topics are determined by attendees and range depending on the group interest and needs. Meetings are every two months. \nThere is no cost to these meetings.
