Join us for a discussion on compostables (and other alternatives), as we move toward bans of single-use plastics. With Larry Gardner (Regional District of Nanaimo) as our moderator, we will explore the current trend of compostables with an expert panel: Phil Ragan ( EcoSafe Zero Waste), Ryan Lauzon (Convertus Group), and Jeanette Hanna (BASF).

Our Panel

Larry Gardner
Regional District of Nanaimo
Our moderator for this event is the Manager of Solid Waste Services at the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN). Joining the RDN team in 2014, Larry has an extensive thirty year history working in the solid waste industry, including twenty-eight years working for the British Columbia Ministry of Environment regulating landfills and industrial waste.

Jeanette Hanna
BASF North America
Jeanette has been with BASF for 14 years, and she has spent the last 6 years as the Biopolymers Market Development Manager, supporting the development of composting infrastructure and demonstrating the role of certified compostable products as an enabler for diverting food waste. Her work extends across North America, including the Canadian market.
Ryan Lauzon
Convertus Group
Ryan Lauzon has been working in the Organics business for more than a decade. During that period, he has built some of the largest organic waste treatment facilities in North America. Ryan is currently focused on Convertus goal to become the most advanced organic waste processor in North America. Responsible for intakes and offtakes from the existing Convertus facilities as well as sourcing new opportunities through competitive tenders.

Phil Ragan
EcoSafe Zero Waste
