So much potential! There are many ways for wood waste to be reused and a lot of action being taken now to increase re-use and recycling. Everything from off cuts to deconstructed wood can be disposed of in more environmentally thoughtful ways.
Let’s consider ideas for reuse and recycling and build awareness of what is already working around us and what may be coming soon. Plan to be part of the conversation on how to make re-use more popular and practical.
– DETAILS–
Our fabulous panel will include…
- Dillon Consulting to start us off with their research for ECCC on Canada’s C&D Material Flow with a focus on waste wood.
- Then meet Urbanjacks who gather wood waste from the urban forest of construction sites and movie sets and turn it back into new lumber.
- Following that, the City of Seattle will illustrate how they are partnering on local deconstruction contractor trainings, promoting demand of reclaimed lumber packages, and supporting a salvaged lumber warehouse.
- PLUS we will include several vignettes to increase your awareness of other possibilities and ideas including wood waste research by Kaia Nielsen-Roine at UBC, the work of fabulous social enterprise One Light, Urban Machine‘s AI that helps save deconstructed wood, and local wood reuse gurus at VEMA Deconstruction and TreeCycle Canada!
