CWMA Special Workshop: Handling Fridges and Freezers After a Disaster

This on-line workshop is an experience-informed discussion on handling fridges and freezers after a disaster. Join us to explore a number of examples of fridge collections after evacuations with a highlight presentation from the Columbia–Shuswap Regional District, whose approach to managing this important clean up action after last year’s fires in the region has seen great success.
Topics will include:
- Historic management including burial of whole fridges / mechanical cleaning
- Success with the CSRD approach
- A discussion of potential cleaning options
- Educational resources (IBC info, local government examples, etc.) and specific discussion and
- Advice on bagging materials and unplugging or turning off breakers
- All about bears
- Funding for clean ups
