Coast Waste Management Association is a highly-regarded non-profit membership association serving the solid waste industry across coastal British Columbia and beyond.

With 185 organizational members and over 860 active member participants from within those organizations. We have a greater community outreach of over 4000 and are honoured to be a key part of the success of the industry for 28 years.

We are membership-funded, led by dedicated volunteer board members, and inspire excellent industry participation. For over 14 years, CWMA has sent thoughtfully curated updates to notify members of industry news, topics, issues, and events. We ensure our members stay up-to-date on waste news in BC and beyond.

One of our key benefits for members is the strong community we have built through excellent forums for networking, collaboration, and idea sharing we provide each year to all of our members and the greater industry.

Events & Stakeholder Feedback Sessions

Always popular and relevant!  In addition to a regular schedule of Networking & Speaker events, we occasionally provide forums for presentations and stakeholder information engagements by stewardship programs, the government, and industry leaders. 

Discounted Event Rates & Exclusive Free Events

Discounted registration fees at our workshops and networking events hosted throughout the year as well as member-rates to our Annual Conference. From time to time we will also hold exclusive free events for members.

We highlight members from our site in our membership listing to ensure ease-of-access to your information by all members and the greater community. NEW! In 2023 we will be creating a showcase area on line for our corporate members to highlight key information.

Research & Information

CWMA has always produced and compiled information in a free clearinghouse NEW! In 2023 we will be expanding to with new research compilations and a sharing library for organizing industry samples of by-laws, solid waste management plans and more!

Representation

CWMA staff and directors will often represent members’ interests through participation in local and provincial committees, events, and feedback opportunities.

Voting Privileges

Voting privileges for member organizations (detailed in our bylaws).

Annual Membership 

• Membership is valid from January to December annually.

• Renewals go out in January of each year. Members who are not paid by March 1, will be removed from the Member list. Members who require financial reprieve or additional time, please be in touch.

• Membership fees apply organization-wide (i.e. all employees/staff are members) so the more actively participating team members you have, the better the value!

• New Members first year is pro-rated (please select the invoice option on the member registration form and we will adjust your fees based on your start date).

• Our organizational membership model allows as many people in one organization to be members under that membership — ensuring we reach every level of and area of an organization. It adds a very unique breadth and depth of experiences and knowledge to all of our forums.
• Historically, the Regional District fees were set to help supplement our ability to charge lower prices for the smaller local governments and non-profits in their districts to able to participate. This has worked well for years and we have maintained high participation from within each member district to date. However, we recognize that not every Regional District has a large team to ensure that same value is found, so we have introduced special pricing for those RDs. Interested in learning more? Student Membership is FREE
